Read Alouds

We Are Wolves
When we studied Russia and the Russian Revolution a couple of years ago, this naturally led us into the World Wars. It was then that We are Wolves by Katrina Nannestad became one of our favourite read alouds. It is historical fiction but based on the true story of the Wolf Children of Germany. These children were left alone, lost or orphaned when World War II ended. Their war continued… the war for survival. One of my top choice, must reads!
We Are Wolves

Age 10+

When the Russian Army marches into East Prussia at the end of World War II, the Wolf family must flee. Being caught by the Russians or the Americans would be the end for them. Liesl, Otto, and baby Mia’s father has already been captured, and they get separated from their mother in a blizzard after only a few days on the run.
