What is Storyschooling?
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

Storyschooling™ first and foremost has been created for mums who desire to educate their children Biblically. It is about learning through story, encouraging families to first know the greatest story of all and to walk closer with Jesus each day by reading and studying His Word. By prioritising this above all else, a foundation of truth will be established that will then inform every other subject area you and your children may choose to study.
After 18 years of homeschooling my own children and seeing the rapid cultural changes we have all encountered in recent years, I believe that after God’s Word, the most important area of study is worldview and apologetics. This was a relatively obscure area of study when my older children were young but there are now many great resources available. In the coming months and years, I want to bring together the best of these for you to use in your home in order to give your children the greatest opportunity to serve God well not only as children but also as adults. Nothing will prepare your children more than studying their Bibles daily, being able to give an answer for the hope that is within them and understanding what others believe and why.
My recommendations here at Storyschooling represent thousands of hours of research. This is the time I have invested in order to find some of the best resources for you and to break down each aspect of life and homeschooling with your children into doable bite size pieces. When I had babies and toddlers and was homeschooling 6 children, I had little time to complete simple daily tasks let alone time to myself to research something new. Now that most of my children are adults, I would love to be your chief researcher and encourager, to free you up to choose what is true and nourishing for your family from the smorgasbord of offerings here at Storyschooling.
Storyschooling was born out of my passion for connecting people with good and beautiful books and for encouraging mums in their homeschool journeys. As well as the Bible, I am also passionate about building story libraries at home by sharing my favourite books and resources in every subject area that we have used over the past 18 years in our homeschool. I love discovering beautiful books and stories to use as the foundation of our homeschools and to also share what I would be doing and using now if I had my time over again.
I do not claim to know it all nor to know what is best for your family or situation. Like parenting, I do not believe we ever “arrive” in our homeschooling journeys but instead continue to grow and learn each day alongside our children according to their needs. Storyschooling has longevity in mind for the homeschooling family, while keeping God’s Word at the centre of the home. When we use a Christian resource, we expect it to be just that. If an author uses the name of Jesus Christ to label their product or book as “Christian”, then I hold them to a higher standard than secular works and expect their work to be subject to God’s true and complete Word.
Whether you are homeschooling your children, teaching children outside of your home or just wanting to supplement what your children are using at school, my heart is to share with you what has worked for us with our 6 children and what hasn’t.
…always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you – 1 Peter 3:15
Many parents think they do not have what it takes to ‘teach’ their own child. They worry more about what they don’t know rather than what they do. All parents homeschool. From the moment you first welcome your child, they are learning from you and taking your cues. If you know how to read, you and your child can learn anything. Storyschooling takes the pressure off of the “teaching” and puts the focus back on to the “reading”. If we read stories that do not just “tell” but “show”, stories about others and their personal experiences along with their successes and failures, then we may be inspired enough to recognise what our story has been, what it is and what it might become.
I have so many ideas I am wanting to share with you in coming months and years. God in His grace and goodness is granting me patience during the times when I want everything to happen right now because I know this will all happen in His perfect timing. I would humbly like to walk this journey with you, encouraging you as we serve Jesus together in our calling to nurture our children in all that is noble, lovely and true.
The rewards of sharing and learning together with our own children are great and many. I pray that you will be refreshed and encouraged through all that you find here at Storyschooling and that your family will be blessed beyond measure as you invest in the hearts and minds of your children.
