About me…

I love Jesus. I love His truth and beauty and faithfulness and the joy that comes from being in relationship with Him. Even greater than my love of beautiful books is my passion for encouraging others to walk closer with Jesus each day by reading and studying His Word, prioritising this above all else.

Not only do I love the Bible but I am also passionate about the preservation of the truths contained within God’s complete and perfect Word. I seek always to find truth in God’s Word that is the same yesterday, today and forever, avoiding doctrines that originate outside of God’s Word in any writings or traditions of man or in any current cultural trends.

I have been married to my husband Derek for the past 31 years and have been a full time homeschooling mama to our 6 children. Our only son lives overseas and we have 3 married daughters, 2 daughters still at home and 3 granddaughters. We are Australian born and bred and live in the beautiful Adelaide Hills of South Australia.

From 2017-2020, I directed Christian Kids’ Camps here in the Adelaide Hills for children in the child protection system. This was a beautiful and treasured time of learning and serving these precious children together as a family. After a few years however, God led me to pass on the baton and enter a new season of life which resulted in the birth of Storyschooling in 2023.

At the age of 21, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I then spent 20 years in a church where man’s word and experience was elevated above the truth of God’s Word. After entering into the busy years of a mother of 6 children where my main Bible reading was during family devotions, I asked God to give me a passion for His Word. As a result of His faithful answer to prayer, I can now do no other than submit all that I read and learn to His wonderful truth. Passionate about sharing the truth of the Scriptures with other women, including mamas and their children, I am truly honored and excited to share Storyschooling with you.

I am currently completing a Master of Old Testament Studies while I am working on Year 1 of The Bible as One Story, launching April 2026. I look forward to journeying with you and your children as we immerse ourselves in the beautiful truth and light of God’s Word.

Hi! My name is Mary.

I am Karyn’s daughter and I have been homeschooled my whole life. My main roles at Storyschooling are managing photography, social media, social design and editing. I love anything involving performing arts including dancing, music, singing and acting as well as reading books! My favourite novel is The Great Gatsby and I also love the Anne of Green Gables series. I hope you are inspired by this blog and all it contains and that you will be encouraged and find everything you need while you’re here!
